WORD FOR THE YEAR 2026: RETURN
A gentle homecoming
Every new year carries the promise of fresh beginnings, but “RETURN” is different. It is not a word of striving or reinvention — it is a word of homecoming. A word of turning your face back toward the One who has been pursuing you all along.
To “return” is to find yourself again in the presence of God. It’s not about fixing everything or having perfect discipline. It’s simply the movement of the heart that says:
“Lord, I’m coming back.”
Back to His peace.
Back to His voice.
Back to His rest.
Back to the foundation your soul was made for.

Scripture Focus
“In returning and rest you will be saved;
in quietness and trust is your strength.”
Isaiah 30:15
This verse speaks of a strength that doesn’t come from pushing harder, but from turning back to the One who strengthens you.
“Return to your rest, O my soul,
for the Lord has been good to you.”
“Return to your rest, O my soul,
for the Lord has been good to you.”
Psalm 116:7
An invitation to settle back into God’s goodness.
“Come, let us return to the Lord;
for He has torn us, that He may heal us.”
Hosea 6:1
Returning is not about guilt – it’s about healing and restoration.
Luke 15 (The Prodigal Son)
When you return, the Father runs toward you. There are robes and rings and celebrations – not disappointment.
What it could mean for your 2026
1. Returning to His Presence
Making space again for stillness, worship, and meeting with God without rush or pressure.
2. Returning to His Word
Letting Scripture shape your inner life — reading not for duty but for encounter.
3. Returning to Rest
Letting God restore the rhythms that bring peace, not burnout. Learning to say “no” in order to protect the “yes” God is asking of you.
4. Returning to Joy
Inviting God to revive your delight, your humour, your gratitude — the parts of your heart that have felt dimmed.
5. Returning to Purpose
Re-engaging with the gifts and calling He placed in you. Realigning your steps with the path He’s marked out.
6. Returning to Community
Rebuilding connection, opening your heart again, allowing trusted people to walk with you.

A Prayer for 2026
“Father, thank You for calling me to return — not in shame, but in love. Let this year be a gentle drawing back to Your presence, Your Word, Your rest, and Your purpose. Teach me to walk in quietness and trust. Restore what has been strained, revive what has grown dim, and anchor me again in Your heart. This year, let my soul return to its true home in You. Amen.”
